Police say the vehicle involved fled the scene and was not part of the official convoy.

Police have denied reports that a vehicle in the convoy of the First Lady was responsible for the death of a young girl in Akure, Ondo State. According to the state police spokesperson, the fatal incident was caused by a hit-and-run driver, not the official convoy.

“The accident was caused by a hit-and-run driver and not the convoy of the First Lady,” the spokesperson stated.

Eyewitnesses had earlier claimed that a vehicle in the convoy struck the girl on the way to an empowerment event. However, police investigations confirmed that the driver fled the scene immediately after the incident and was not connected to the official vehicles.

Authorities say efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect.
